Maria Menounos

Maria Menounos, born June 8, 1978, is an American actress and journalist. Extra and E! have been hosted by her. Extra and E! have been her hosts. AfterBuzz TV is an online podcast series that she co-founded and is the CEO. She is currently a WWE ambassador, and has been signed to the company since 2013. She is the host of Conversations with Maria Menounos.

Early life

Menounos was the daughter of Costas Menounos and Litsa Menounos (Greek immigrant parents) who were born in Boston, Massachusetts to Menounos and Menounos. They worked as janitors at a Boston nightclub. Peter is her younger brother. Menounos was a member of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, Somerville (Massachusetts). She attended Medford High School, Medford.

Menounos started competing in beauty pageants in 1995. She was named Miss Massachusetts Teen USA the following year. In Miss Teen USA she placed in the top 15 and received an honorary mention during the preliminary competition. Menounos placed 13th in preliminaries. She was first runner up in the Miss Massachusetts USA 2000 competition.

Menounos was a Boston Emerson College student, where she was a member of the Emerson Independent Video organization. Emerson was her graduation in 2000.

Career

Film, television and radio

Menounos was a Channel One News reporter during her senior year at Emerson. She traveled to El Salvador for her 10-minute segments. There she interviewed NATO aircrew members onboard an E-3 AWACS aircraft during Operation Eagle Assist.

Entertainment Tonight hired Menounos in 2002 to be a correspondent. She covered movies, music and fashion. In 2005, she left Entertainment Tonight to pursue her acting career. However, she would return to Access Hollywood in the fall as a correspondent. In the fall and late summer of 2006, she was a co-host of a few episodes on Today. She also hosted a few episodes in April 2007. Menounos was a guest on Punk’d’s November 30 episode. She was one of many stars who were caught on camera in awkward “Red Carpet Interviews.”

Professionals Wrestling

Menounos, a long-time WWE fan, has appeared with the promotion on several occasions. Menounos’ debut appearance was on October 12, 2009 when Menounos joined Nancy O’Dell as guest host of WWE Raw. In-ring debut was made that night when she fought in a six-diva tag team match against Gail Kim, Kelly Kelly, and Rosa Mendes. Menounos’ team won, with Menounos slapping Phoenix, who is larger than Menounos.

At WWE Tribute to the Troops on December 11, 2011, Menounos returned to team up with Eve Torres and Kelly Kelly to defeat The Bella Twins (Brie & Nikki) & The Divas of Doom(Phoenix & Natalya). Menounos won the victory for her team by pinning Phoenix.

Personal life

Menounos was photographed nude in 2012 for Allure magazine’s May issue.

Menounos also told Howard Stern in the same year that she had been abused sexually by two doctors during her medical examinations.

She had surgery in June 2017 for an intracranial meningioma.

Keven Undergaro was married to Menounos in Times Square on the 2017 New Year’s Eve. The ceremony was officiated first by Steve Harvey and then again at an Orthodox wedding in Akovos in Greece in 2018.
