Paula Faris

Paula Faris, born October 26, 1975, is an American journalist and television reporter. She was previously with ABC News. Her tenures as co-anchor on Good Morning America Weekend (2014-2018) and co-host on The View (2015-2018) are well-known. Faris was previously the anchor of America This Morning and World News Now.

Education and early life

Faris was born in Jackson, Michigan on October 26, 1975. She attended Jackson Christian School. Cedarville University, where she graduated in 1997 with a degree as a broadcaster with an emphasis on television production.

Career

After graduation, Faris held several communications-related jobs including an operations position at Mills/James Productions in Columbus, Ohio. Due to the limited opportunities on television, Faris held a job as a radio sales representative. After a year of working as a production assistant for WKEF/WRGT, she was promoted to occasional anchor and reporting. She was the weekend anchor and weekday anchor at WCPO TV in Cincinnati from 2002 to 2005.  She was the weekend sports anchor and weekday sports anchor at WCPO-TV in Cincinnati from 2002 to 2005. From November 2005 through December 2011, she was a sports reporter for NBC-TV’s Chicago affiliate WMAQ-TV.

ABC News announced in December 2011 that Faris had been hired to be a news reporter for its news division, ABC News.  Faris made her debut on the network’s World News Now and America This Morning programs on January 2, 2012. She was occasionally a fill-in correspondent and a regular on Good Morning America during this period. Faris was promoted to New York-based reporter for all ABC News programs. Faris’ final episode on World News Now and America This Morning aired January 22, 2013.

Faris, who was previously co-anchor for Good Morning America Weekend on August 9, 2014, made her debut after Bianna Golodryga left. She moved to Yahoo! News. News. Faris joined The View as a cohost on season 19. Faris’s contract was renewed by ABC on August 3, 2016. Season 21 also saw her renewed as cohost. Faris appeared most often during Friday episodes of the series’ 20th- and 21st seasons.

ABC News announced that Faris would be leaving Good Morning America Weekend as well as The View on July 18, 2018. She will also take on a new position within ABC News and start a podcast about faith. Faris made her last appearance on The View as cohost on July 20. Her final episode on Good Morning America Weekend was broadcast on September 29.

Faris was appointed senior national correspondent at ABC News in September 2018. Her podcast, “Journeys of Faith With Paula Faris,” was launched November 14.

Personal life

Faris is half Lebanese and her paternal grandparents are from Lebanon. John Krueger was Faris’ husband while she was at Cedarville University. They were married in 2000, and they have three children, Caroline Grace (b. 2007) (b. 2007), and Landon (b.January 2014).

Faris is an openly professing Christian.
