Adamari Lopez Torres, a Puerto Rican actress, was born May 18, 1971. She is well-known for her participation in many soap operas from Mexico and Puerto Rico. She currently hosts the Telemundo morning program Hoy Dia. She is also a Latina ambassador of WW, formerly Weight Watchers.
Luis Lopez was Luis Lopez’s daughter. Adamari, the daughter of an undertaker began her career as a six-year-old in the Telemundo Canal 2 productions of Cristina Bazan soap opera. She worked alongside Johanna Rosaly, a legendary Puerto Rican actress, and Jose Luis Rodriguez (El Puma), a Venezuelan singer.
She was a potential future star because of her talent. WAPA-TV chose her next to play Iris Chacon’s and Daniel Guerrero’s daughter, “Jenny”, in Yo se que mentia. She was a child actor who played an important supporting role in the story and became a household name.

Fame and adulthood
She returned to Puerto Rico at the age of maturity and participated in many plays at Teatro Tapia (San Juan’s oldest and premier theater) and was soon able to attract the attention of Mexican producers.
After being invited by producers to go to Mexico, Lopez went to Mexico and became a star in the country. She worked in several top soap operas including Camila and Amigas y Rivales, which is a national hit. Lopez was a part of the soap opera Mujer de Madera in 2004. Her father Luis, a well-respected and successful undertaker, had a heart attack during the recording of that soap opera. He was hospitalized and later operated on. Lopez was granted immediate permission to travel to Puerto Rico to be with her father as long as she needed. Her father was able to recover, but only five percent of his heart functioned. Lopez was forced to fly back to Puerto Rico after her father was discharged from the hospital. She was one of Univision’s top dancers in 2011 and won the competition.

Lopez was also the wife of Luis Fonsi, a Puerto Rican singer. Lopez and Fonsi were married in 2006, when they announced that they would get married in the summer. Lopez announced that she had been diagnosed as having breast cancer at a press conference held in San Juan on March 22nd 2005. Luis Fonsi was her then-boyfriend and announced that he would cancel his 2005 international tour in order to be with her. As her cancer was in its early stages and had not spread to other parts of her body, she was expected to be able to recover.
She underwent cancer surgery. She was declared remission in 2006 by the American Cancer Society. She has been active in raising awareness about breast cancer since being diagnosed.
