Alaina Huffman

Alaina Kalanj, also known as Alaina Huffman, is a Canadian actress. She was born April 17, 1980. Her television and film credits include Painkiller Jane where she played Maureen Bowers. She was the character Dinah Lance/Black Canary on Smallville and 1st Lieutenant Tamara Johansen on Stargate Universe. She was the demon Abaddon on the American dark-fantasy TV series Supernatural.

Biography

Huffman was Alaina Kalanj, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Huffman is of Croatian heritage. She was 13 years old when she attended her first audition for Fox Family Channel’s pilot. There, she was offered the main part. Instead, a scout at a modeling agency recruited Huffman. She was then set to model on high fashion runways in Europe as well as Japan in the next few years.

She saw an opportunity to move to the United States with her parents, and to enroll in college. She also took up acting roles in independent films while she was in school. She eventually moved to Los Angeles where she gained more TV credits.

Personal life

Alaina is married to John Huffman and has four children: Elijah, Lincoln, Hanna, Charley-Jane. Charley-Jane was pregnant while she was starring in Stargate Universe’s first season. The pregnancy was then written into the plot.
