Janice Dean

Janice Dean was born May 9, 1970 in Canada. She is an American meteorologist, TV host and author, based out of New York City. She is currently a Fox News co-host and weather anchor.

Career

Prior to joining Fox News, Dean was employed at several television and radio stations in Canada and the United States including CHEZ-FM and WCBS-TV.

Dean applied for the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval in 2009. It was created in 1957 to recognize air personalities who deliver accurate weather information to the public. The AMS has stopped accepting applications for the Seal of Approval Program.

Dean’s mother-in law and father-inlaw were residents of an assisted living facility in New York. They both died from complications of COVID-19. She blamed both her father-in-law and mother-in law’s deaths on a State of New York advisory, which required residents of assisted living facilities and nursing homes to be admitted and readmitted without virus testing. In the aftermath of the incident, she became a prominent critic of Andrew Cuomo, the Democratic Governor of New York, and the lack of media coverage.

Personal Life

Dean was born in Toronto (Ontario), grew up in Ottawa and graduated from Algonquin College.  She married Sean Newman, a New York City Fire Department firefighter in 2007.  The couple has two sons, Matthew & Theodore.
