Aarti Mann

Aarti Majumdar, born March 3, 1978, better known as Aarti Mann is an American actress. After the television series Never Have I Ever, she starred in several TV programs, including the role of Priya Koothrappali in Heroes, a sci-fi drama. Her most well-known role is that of Priya Koothrappali on The Big Bang Theory.

Education and early life

Mann is an abbreviation for her married name. She was born March 3, 1978 in Connecticut in a Bengali Brahmin household and is a first-generation Indian American. Her parents were originally from Kolkata.

Mann, still a toddler when she left home, moved with her family to Pennsylvania, where they included her parents, older sister Kruti, and younger brother Nishad. As a child, Mann lived in Pittsburgh and Mt. Before moving to Fox Chapel, she lived in Lebanon and Wexford as a young child. Vasanti Majumdar, Mann’s mother, is a University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) graduate who lives in Fox Chapel. She is a physician specializing obstetrics/gynaecology. Mann’s father was also a doctor and died while Mann was still in high school.

Mann, despite not having performed in plays in high school at Shady Side Academy of Point Breeze in Point Breeze during her time there, graduated from New York University with a degree as a film writer and director. She also practiced acting.

Career

Mann started acting in the mid 2000s. She began with minor roles. Aarti Majumdar as well as Aarti Mann are her professional names.

I am the daughter of two Indian immigrant doctors. I also have a younger sister and brother. None of us has ever pursued medicine as a profession. We are all passionate about the artistic side of things.

Mann’s brother Nishad, a journalist, and Kruti, her sister helped to influence her decision to move to acting. Kruti, a filmmaker who lives in Los Angeles and starred in Mann’s 2006 film The Memsahib, was also filmed by Kruti. Mann stated that she was filming scenes and “got bitten by the bug” to act. She enrolled in acting classes at Los Angeles.

Mann was featured in a Volvo commercial. Other roles were followed by a role in Quarterlife web/TV series, which aired briefly in 2008 on NBC. In 2009, she was also a guest star of Heroes. Mann was a guest star on Heroes in 2009. Mann originally was cast as Stephanie in USA Network’s pilot Paging Dr. Although Mann was originally cast as Stephanie for USA Network’s pilot Paging Dr., Mann did not make it to the final version. The network had envisioned a different character.

Personal life

Mann lives in Los Angeles currently with Purvesh Mankad, her husband who works in finance and their daughter, Nikita.
